Celina Jaitly's Brother Detained: Actress Speaks Out After Court Rejection

Actress Celina Jaitly has released a heartfelt statement following the Delhi High Court's dismissal of her petition seeking consular access and legal aid for her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Jaitly. He has been detained in the United Arab Emirates since September 2024.

Jaitly shared in an Instagram post that her last conversation with her brother was on August 23, 2024, shortly before his detention on September 6. Initially held in secret detention until May 2025, he has since been held in a detention center in the Middle East. She reports he has spent nearly 18 months without formal charges, with limited access.

Celina Jaitly addressed concerns about her brother's well-being, stating she cannot speculate on what he may have been told during his detention. She believes he may be trying to protect her from additional stress. She acknowledges that any decisions made by a detainee must be understood within the context of their circumstances, especially with limited outside awareness.

Jaitly mentioned that her brother has sometimes declined communication with family members. However, she emphasizes that her primary focus remains on his physical and mental health.

She clarified that her petition was not about personal gain but about ensuring her brother's access to communication and legal representation. Jaitly expressed gratitude to the Indian government, noting nine consular interactions since June 2025 and continued efforts to encourage him to accept legal assistance.

"My only intention has always been his safety, legal protection, and dignity," she stated, reaffirming her unwavering support and advocacy for his rights.

Concluding her statement, Jaitly stated that she cannot draw firm conclusions until she can meet and speak with her brother directly. She reiterated her commitment to stand by him unconditionally.
